Running a school is expensive. The VHC must raise approximately $5,000 per month to pay teachers' salaries to keep St. Marc's running. Collaborative member churches provide about half of that annually. The remainder comes from individual donors and grants. Nine full-time primary teachers and 18 part-time secondary teachers educate 350 students each day because of the money we are able to send. Most parents are unable to afford the family contribution of $10 US per child.

A $200 donation pays a year’s tuition for a child; $2,000 pays a full-time teacher salary. 

 

Ecole Saint Marc educates 350 students through an annual operating budget of $68,000.  Seven VHC  churches each contribute an average of $4,000 annually to Saint Marc. The Gifts from individuals and  grants cover the rest. 

 

Special funding needs for 2024

In 2024, the Haitian Department of Education began mandating computer literacy. Ecole Saint Marc needs 20 laptop and 20 desktop computers at an average per unit price of $500 to meet these computer literacy goals.
